Scholarships & Awards

BC Aviation Council members recognize the financial pressures faced by students pursuing studies in aviation and aerospace, and the BCAC bursary fund provides bursaries and awards for students on an annual basis.

Students actively pursuing studies in the following fields can apply for cash awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000:

  • commercial pilot
  • aviation maintenance
  • airport operations
  • private pilot

Awards and Bursary Nominations are now closed for 2009.   The next call for nominations will go out in the Spring of 2010.

Endowment Fund

The Council maintains an endowment fund and the interest from the fund is used to support our scholarship and bursaries program for deserving students.

The Council’s status as a “charitable organization” enhances our ability to raise funds, through events such as the annual Silver Wings Awards Dinner. To date, over $100,000 is endowed, the interest from which sustains the awards over the long term.

Donations

With current interest rates, the endowment income available for these important cash awards is constrained and the BCAC is actively seeking to supplement our endowment with additional donations.

Support the next generation of aviation leaders by making a donation to the BCAC Scholarship & Awards Program. Donations can be made online via our secure form (a tax receipt will be issued for all donations over $20). You can also support these awards by attending the annual Silver Wings Awards Banquet in the Fall of each year.

Please give until you feel good that your donation will make it easier for students to fulfill their dreams of a career in aviation. Your support of the BCAC’s education and training initiatives is greatly appreciated.
