Yesterday in Vancouver the BC Aviation Council (BCAC) held its “Silver Wings” event. This is a highly prestigious happening recognizing excellence in the aviation industry, and to award scholarships for aviation students. The council is supported by major industry partners such as Vancouver International Airport.
This year Vanderhoof Airport was honoured to be awarded the William Templeton Trophy, being named the “Airport of the Year“. The nomination by Mark Duncan mentioned, “outstanding initiative and achievement developing a community airport”.
There was a short video provided by the District of Vanderhoof, and Glenn and Ingrid Pearce were on hand accept the trophy, and to represent the aviation groups associated with the Vanderhoof Airport. Glenn said, “It was a great occasion. I made some terrific contacts and, despite the very short notice we had to attend, I’m glad we made it to the event.” Glenn is a Member of the Vanderhoof Airport Development Society and a senior Air Canada Pilot approaching retirement. Ingrid was the Accommodation Chair for the 2018 Vanderhoof International Airshow; both Glenn and Ingrid are active participants with the Vanderhoof International Airshow
The actual trophy will be coming to Vanderhoof for the next year, until it is awarded again.
