A Second World War B-25 Mitchell “Maid in the Shade” is visiting the Victoria Flying Club

The B-17 Flying Fortress Sentimental Journey and the B-25 Mitchell Maid in the Shade will be in Victoria, British Columbia, July 25 – 30, 2023.

Blake Granger, 10, left, and Arthur O’Connor, 12, explore one of the rarest war birds from the Second World War, the B-25 Mitchell “Maid in the Shade,” at the Victoria Flying Club on Thursday. Rides will be offered this weekend on the plane as well as on the B-17 Flying Fortress “Sentimental Journey,” which was due to arrive at Victoria International Airport on Thursday night.

The bombers are visiting from Airbase Arizona Flying Museum, a unit of the worldwide Commemorative Air Force, which has operated from its home base at Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona, for 44 years. A non-profit organization, the museum provides educational support to schools, exhibits and speaker programs, a national tour program and living history flights.
