The BC Aviation Council wishes to commend the Provincial Government on its commitment to the vital aviation sector in this province. The Honourable Mary Polak, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, recently announced An Aviation Strategy for British Columbia that is focused on optimizing the aviation sector’s long-term potential.
This is important, as the aviation and aerospace industries are critical to growing the B.C. economy, enabling investment, and facilitating trade. For example, every year BC’s airports serve 22 million passengers and support 31,000 direct jobs—with thousands more indirect jobs generated in multiple other sectors. Aviation and aerospace fuel tourism and innovation and allow the province to connect to the world for business and leisure.
For 75 years, the BC Aviation Council has represented and advocated for the industry, and we look forward to working with the Premier’s Office and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure in building a future based on our proud aviation heritage.
