COPA AGMJune 21, 2013 BCAC celebrated National Aboriginal Day in Dawson Creek at the COPA 2013 Fly-in and AGM.  Dawson Creek is “mile zero”, of the famous engineering feat known as the Alaska Highway.  Dawson Creek aviation history is rich and diverse, from a WWII emergency airstrip on the Lend-Lease route that supplied over 5000 aircraft to Russia, to the base of aircraft used in maintaining the Mid Canada Radar Line during the cold war, and home of one of Canada’s premier Aviation Maintenance Engineer training programs.  Thank you Tim Cole for the invitation and a warm welcome!  BCAC’s Director, Heather Bell; Executive Director, Teara Fraser took part in the Fly-in, the Tradeshow, the COPA AGM, and of course the festivities.  BCAC - Westjet at FtStJohn

On Saturday, July 6th, two monuments celebrating the contributions of outstanding community members from the Central Coast of British Columbia were unveiled in a ceremony in Shearwater, BC.  BCAC was honoured to be there and to be a part of this magical day of Chiefs welcome, O Canada and overhead flyby of the Buffalo.  The first monument to be unveiled at the event was a cenotaph commemorating the Royal Canadian Air Force Station from World War II and the Heiltsuk First Nations and non-Aboriginal community members who served in WWI and WWII, as well as the Korean War and various peacekeeping missions. The traditional Warrior Pole ceremony and the unveiling of the United in History mural followed.  Thank you to the Shearwater Marine Resort for hosting BCAC.
