Hope Air is a CRA-registered national charity that works towards equal access to healthcare for all Canadians by providing free flights to families in financial need who require specialized medical care that is not available locally. Last year Hope Air arranged over 5,000 flights for BC residents, and this year the number is likely to be even higher.
Mikaela and Jennifer are two nurses who work in Northern BC and have direct experience of the difficulties people face when they need to travel to medical care far from home. They have organized a bike ride from Prince Rupert to Prince George through Terrace, New Hazelton, Smithers, Houston, Burns Lake and Vanderhoof at the end of August. Their goal is to raise funds for 25 additional Hope Air flights in the region, and to raise awareness of Hope Air’s service in Northern communities: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/1105M4
Another campaign was also recently launched by a group of Hope Air clients in Quesnel who want to raise funds for 40 flights! Hope Air was able to help Terry and Lynne several times when Terry needed heart treatment in Vancouver, and now they want to raise $10,000 for more Hope Air flights for other local families: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/fyXhe
Every additional flight means that Mikaela and Jennifer can help another local client, and that someone else like Terry will not have to worry about travel costs while dealing with serious illness. Please consider “adopting” a flight through either of these campaigns. Donations are tax-deductible, and all the funds raised locally will be used only in Northern BC.
If you cannot contribute to either of these campaigns, please share them with your own personal and professional networks on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+ or LinkedIn, or just by emailing the links above to family and friends. For any questions regarding Hope Air, contact Anna du Bois, Development Manager at Hope Air’s Vancouver office, on 604-374-7415 or adubois@hopeair.ca
Thank you for supporting local families in need, and for contributing towards equal access to healthcare for all Canadians, regardless of their income or location!
