Please be advised that the inaugural Annual General Meeting for the Floatplane Operators Association of BC (FOA) is set for April 12th, 2011 at the Vancouver Airport Marriott at 1:00pm (see end of message for forms).
We will be accepting membership applications before and at the General Meeting (membership application form attached).
Operator Members who have submitted an application with the appropriate fee prior to the commencement of the General Meeting will have voting privileges.
Associate Members who have submitted an application with the appropriate fee prior to the commencement of the General Meeting are eligible to represent and vote for the Associate Member position on the FOA Board.
Here are a few things your interim Board has accomplished to date:
· Constitution and Bylaw’s written and approved for the Floatplane Operators Association of BC, a non-profit society.
· Formed a Safety Committee and began information gathering for industry best practices.
· Initiated dialogue with Transport Canada regarding the partnership between the FOA and TC.
· Meetings held with the Transportation Safety Board regarding ongoing safety concerns.
· Represented the industry at the Senators fact finding mission meetings regarding Lighthouse decommission. Wrote local MPs voicing concerns about Lighthouse closures.
· Held discussions with NavCanada regarding webcam placement and operation.
· Joined the CARAC process as the FOA.
· Acted as a united voice to represent the BC Floatplane Operators.
We have come a long way but still have a great deal of work to do.
