In 2009 BCAC was able to distribute a total of $9,000 in scholarships. This year, with the addition of Helijet and Harbour Air’s corporate scholarships, BCAC will be distributing just over $50,000 to further aviation education in B.C.
These scholarships are divided into both legacy funds (a gift or donation in memory of a person or event) and corporate funds (directed to education needs of the corporation). The scholarships cover the full range of education needs from mechanics to pilots and mid-career advancement.
BCAC funds are managed through our endowment fund (currently sitting at approximately $300,000) and through annual directed funds from individuals and corporations of approximately $35,000 dollars. With the increasing demand for new aviation professionals BCAC is committed to growing this fund. Next year’s target is to distribute $60,000 in scholarships.
