Letter of Introduction for Labour Market Study Survey
Transportation and trade drives the economy in Western Canada. The construction sector builds the transportation infrastructure, which in turn supports trade and development throughout Western Canada. Over the past decade, the federal, provincial and municipal governments have joined with the private sector in making big new investments in transportation infrastructure and trade supporting industries. Even bigger investments are planned in the coming years. Our goal is to make Canada the most competitive point in North America for goods going to and coming from Asia. To achieve that, we need to have a strong workforce in place to take build and operate that infrastructure.
We have a new government in Ottawa. They want to hear more about the labour force challenges we face and what further actions the federal government, provincial governments and industry can take to address them.
The Asia Pacific Gateway Skills Table is partnering with other leading associations in Western Canada in surveying employers in the transportation and construction industry, and other trade supporting sectors. They need your input!
