Under the Radar
“The Value‐added secrets of Lower Mainland smaller Airports”
The airports of Abbotsford, Boundary Bay, Langley and Pitt Meadows combined serve approximately 50% more air traffic movements than YVR. In 2016 these 469,000 landings and take‐offs supported business, training, passenger and recreational flying and play an important part in the Lower Mainland economy.
You likely didn’t know that Boundary Bay Airport is 5th in Canada in terms of total movements and first in local movements. Langley Airport is focused on helicopters and has the largest helicopter servicing facility in Western Canada.
Both Pitt Meadows and Boundary Bay have extended runways this year and Langley and Pitt Meadows are building new air traffic control towers. Abbotsford is home to WestJet and the recently announced no‐frills carrier SWOOP. Come and get an “under the radar” view of some of the contributions these airports make to the local economy and how they support our Lower Mainland transportation system.
