BC Aviation Council Commends the BC Government

The BC Aviation Council commends the BC Government for calling upon the federal government to adopt a progressive Open Skies policy. At an International Open Skies Summit convened by the Province on September 25th, Premier Gordon Campbell and Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Shirley Bond called for immediate action by the federal government to give access to airlines wishing to provide service into Vancouver International Airport.

The Council fully supports an Open Skies policy for Canada.  Council Chair Mike Matthews stated:  “To become a true gateway to the Asia Pacific and to have more travel options to Europe and beyond, Canada needs to encourage and welcome service from airlines wishing to provide daily or more frequent service into YVR.  The implementation of the Blue Skies Policy has not achieved this Province’s and YVR’s goal of encouraging and developing more air services for international travelers”.
